Mathieu has been interested in drawing since he was a child, a passion that began with his first visit to a book fair at the age of 7 or 8. An author signed his comic book and asked him what he liked to do. At the time, Mathieu was playing the drums (or at least trying to). With a few pencil strokes, the author drew his character behind a drum kit. That moment marked Mathieu, as if he'd witnessed a real superpower. It was then that he decided: "I want to do that when I grow up".
At the same time, Mathieu discovered manga and Japanese animation thanks to Club Dorothée, another revelation for him. To acquire this "superpower" of telling stories and drawing his own characters, he first tried the gymnasium in the arts section. However, he didn't find what he was looking for and left after two years. In 2001, he began studying at the EPAC in Saxon, where he specialised in comics, graduating in 2006 after five years.
Since then, Mathieu has continued to experiment and explore new ways of working. His inspirations range from the Belgian comics and manga of his childhood to animation, street art, graphic design and illustrated children's books. For the last 15 years, he has been working as a freelance artist, for individuals, businesses and the press, while at the same time pursuing a range of personal projects that he regularly exhibits, both solo and as part of a group.
During his studies, Mathieu also became interested in micro-publishing, creating the fanzine Parazyth with a friend. This project lasted five years, and led him to take part in several comic strip festivals in Switzerland and France. Today, he has the chance to pass on his knowledge to younger people, offering them the tools to bring their ideas to life and awaken their creativity. Like the comic book artist who inspired him in the past, Mathieu hopes to ignite that spark in others.
